Average Calculator — Mean, Median, Mode
Free average calculator. Calculate mean, median, and mode from a set of numbers.
Formula: Sum of Values / Count of Values
What Is This Calculator?
An average calculator computes the mean (arithmetic average) of a set of numbers. The mean is the sum of all values divided by the count. It is the most commonly used measure of central tendency in statistics and everyday calculations.
How to Calculate
To calculate the average (mean): 1) Add all the values together. 2) Count the number of values. 3) Divide the sum by the count. Formula: Mean = Sum / Count. Median is the middle value when sorted. Mode is the most frequent value.
Examples
Example: Values are 10, 20, 30. Mean = (10 + 20 + 30) / 3 = 20. Median = 20 (middle value). If values were 10, 20, 20, 30: Mode = 20.
Recommended Tools
Spreadsheet software like Google Sheets provides AVERAGE(), MEDIAN(), and MODE() functions for large datasets.
