What Is This Calculator?

Churn rate measures the percentage of customers who stop using your product or cancel their subscription over a given period. For SaaS businesses, reducing churn is often more impactful than acquiring new customers. Monthly churn of 5% means you lose half your customers in a year.

How to Calculate

To calculate churn rate: 1) Count customers at the beginning of the period. 2) Count customers who left during the period. 3) Divide lost customers by starting customers. 4) Multiply by 100. Formula: Churn Rate = (Lost Customers / Starting Customers) × 100.

Examples

Example: You start the month with 500 subscribers and 25 cancel. Churn Rate = 25 / 500 × 100 = 5%. Annual churn at this rate: 1 − (1 − 0.05)^12 = 46%.
