Free percentage increase and decrease calculator. Find how much a value has gone up or down.

Formula: ((New - Old) / Old) × 100

What Is This Calculator?

This calculator determines whether a value has increased or decreased and by what percentage. It clearly labels the result as an increase (positive) or decrease (negative), making it easy to communicate changes to stakeholders.

How to Calculate

To calculate: 1) Enter the original value. 2) Enter the new value. 3) The calculator subtracts old from new, divides by old, and multiplies by 100. Positive result = increase. Negative result = decrease. Formula: % Change = (New − Old) / Old × 100.

Examples

Example: Price went from $80 to $100. Change = (100 − 80) / 80 × 100 = 25% increase. If price dropped to $60: (60 − 80) / 80 × 100 = −25% decrease.
